Independence Day

Chapter 12

The Phoenix was sitting near Mars. It would stay that way for the next week. The Tok’ra had received word from one of their spies that three Goa’uld System Lords were going to attempt an attack on what they believed was an undefended Earth. When Casey heard that Morganna was one of the Goa’uld in route, she broke into a fit of giggles. The memory of being mistaken for that particular snake was still fresh in her mind.

Thor and the Asgard were busy with the Replicators yet again. The Goa’uld were betting that the small gray creatures would not be able to stop them from attacking the First World. Sam had been able to readjust the Ancient-technology based weapons they had built so that once again the Asgard, and the Tau’ri, had a defense against the robotic pests. Chances were that Thor was already on his way.

Jacob Carter/Selmak taught Casey how to fire the weapons of the Phoenix, and Daniel was learning how to fly it. Jack and Teal'c were working with the three other SG teams, adding additional armament to the craft.

Casey was repeating to Selmak what each control was, what it did, and how it worked. The Tok'ra nodded with satisfaction.

"I think it’s easier for you to learn this because you’ve never ran the weapons panel on any other type of ship," Jacob told her. "You don’t have to ‘unlearn’ anything to learn this."

"Well, what do you know. Finally my ignorance pays off," she said, grinning broadly.

Jacob laughed. "How’s Sam doing?"

"Besides eating chocolate ice cream with ketchup?"

The older man shuddered visibly. "Yeah, besides that."

"She’s doing great. The baby is doing great. Sam is lucky, she still gets to play with all her doohickeys. She doesn’t work as long though, and she takes a nap every day," Casey reported.

Jacob nodded. "Daniel tells me that Emily is doing well."

"Daniel will talk non-stop about Emily to anybody who asks about her," Casey said with a smile.

"Hey, we dads are damned proud of our daughters," he grinned.

Warning alarms for sensor systems, set to detect any ships as far out as Jupiter, began to go off.

"Show time," Jacob said, checking the readouts that scrolled across computer screens. "We have two, no, make that three, definitely three Goa’uld ships…al'kesh class."

"Sure would be nice to add a couple of those to our fleet," Jack said, hurrying in behind them.

Jacob nodded. "Stations, everyone."

Daniel and Casey moved to stand at the consoles. He winked at her, she winked back. The adrenaline was starting to flow. Jack watched Casey, waiting to see if that bottom lip became caught between her teeth.

The ships moved toward them. No one was sure whether or not the Goa’uld knew that the Phoenix was now controlled by the Tau’ri or not. The assumption was that they did.

Selmak offered a greeting, using one of her aliases. She was greeted, then warned not to interfere. They didn’t know! It was the advantage they'd hoped for.

"Move in slowly Daniel. We want to make it look like we’re just curious to see what they’re doing," Jacob said.

The ship turned slowly; they watched as the Goa’uld ships continued to approach. When they were within range, the ships stopped.

Jacob and Jack exchanged glances. They didn’t dare raise shields, not unless the other ships did as well. If a sensor sweep was done, it would reveal the new weapons. They all held their breath, waiting. After nearly thirty minutes, another warning to stay clear was issued, and the ships began to move away, heading towards Earth. None of them raised their shields.

"Casey, get ready. I want three salvos, one aimed at each ship. As soon as you have target verification for each, let me know," Selmak instructed.

"Right," she replied. With a deep breath Casey began to put to use what she had just learned. "Have it. Target verification for ships one, two, and three."

"Fire at my command," Selmak said.

Casey put her fingers over the controls.

"Fire!"

Her fingers moved over the console, and then she watched on her targeting monitor as the missiles approached the departing ships. So far, it didn’t look as if they had raised their shields.

The first ship to be hit, which was closest to them, was completely destroyed. The other two had time to raise shields before the missiles impacted. The two ships turned and headed back toward the Phoenix.

"Do not scratch my ship!" Jack commanded gruffly.

"Daniel, get us out of here," Jacob commanded as he joined Daniel at the controls. It was easier to maneuver when two people were at the controls of the huge craft.

They headed into deep space, wanting to draw the two ships away from Earth. When they were sure that they would be followed into hyperspace, luring the Goa'uld even farther from their intended target, Jacob engaged the hyperdrive engines.

"Too bad we can’t just make them crash into each other," Casey said, from her place on the steps where normally the Goa’uld had a throne. "What a magnificent ‘ka-boom’ that would be!"

Jacob turned to look at her, then back at Daniel. "Has your wife always been this destructive?"

Daniel shrugged and grinned. "I guess so."

Jacob grinned, but it was Selmak who spoke. "Has your wife always been this brilliant?"

"Me? Brilliant?" Casey laughed. "That’s Daniel’s department. He’s the one with the beautiful, incredible, brilliant mind."

He blushed at her praise, and threw a wink in her direction.

"What do you mean, brilliant? As in what?" Jack asked.

"If we drop out of hyperspace abruptly, the two pursing ships will try to follow. If we fire on them immediately, chances are they will indeed collide," Selmak replied.

"Isn’t that a little bit dangerous?" Jack asked nervously.

"Well, it could cause some damage to this ship. It would not be an easy ride for any of us," Selmak admitted.

Jack nodded. He turned to Teal'c. "Get everybody and everything tied down."

Jacob and Daniel grabbed onto the console in front of them. Casey had a grip on the weapons console. Jack grabbed the door and held the frame with both hands. When Teal'c signaled that all was ready, Jacob turned off the hyperdrive engines. The ship began to shake and shudder around them.

"Get ready, Casey," Jacob yelled over the sounds of the ship. "You won’t have time for a firing solution, just aim and shoot!"

"Right!" Casey shouted back. Like I have a snowball’s chance in hell of actually hitting either one of those ships, she thought to herself. It was one thing to fire missiles when the computer was mapping out the target. It was something else again to ‘shoot from the hip’. She saw the ships appear on her screen.

"Now, Casey, now!" Jacob yelled.

Just pretend it’s a video game, my girl, she told herself. With a flash of a prayer, Casey’s fingers hit the controls. Seconds later space around them lit up as the missiles struck the ships, and turned one into the path of the other. The explosions rocked them, sent her flying against the wall. She landed with a sickening thud, then slid to the floor.

"Casey!" Daniel raced to her side. "Are you okay?"

She shook her head. "I think I broke something. Like my back." She reached out for him.

Daniel pulled her into his arms. She screamed in pain. "Sorry, babe, I’m sorry," he whispered. He pushed her hair away from her face. "Hang on, Angel. It won’t take long."

She tried to nod. "I can’t feel my legs."

"I know, babe."

"I’m getting really cold, too."

"Shh, just relax."

Jack took off his jacket and covered her with it.

Jacob watched. He had seen Daniel and Jack ‘reanimate’ during the negotiations with Earth, but he had never witnessed an Immortal healing before.

Casey closed her eyes. "Talk to me, Daniel, please?"

"Sure babe. Remember the planet where they thought you were Morganna? Well, SG-6 was able to get some great shots of those scrolls. They’re written in the same way, the same style as the other ‘prophecies’ we’ve found. So whoever this Ancient time traveler was, or is, he or she…or they, certainly got around. Makes me wonder about some of the prophecies we’ve had on Earth." He could hear the popping sounds of her spine mending itself. She hissed a breath of pain, her fingers tightened around his. "I’ve been thinking," he continued.

"About what?" she managed to gasp.

"I think we should go on a vacation."

She smiled, then grimaced as a wave of pain washed over her.

"Where would you like to go?"

"Someplace with room service," she replied. The Quickening was easing the pain. It wouldn’t be long now until she would be healed completely.

Daniel grinned. "Okay. I know a couple of places."

"Not Earth!"

"No, babe. No way are we going there."

"Okay, where?"

"Langara. Jonas has told me about a couple of island resorts there."

"I’ve never met Jonas, I’d like to do that," she said. She shifted slightly. There was still pain, but she could feel her legs, and she wasn’t as cold as she had been. She snuggled against his chest. She smiled as his arms tightened around her.

"I’ve told him all about you. He’d like to meet you, too."

"As long as there’s room service. Whenever we go camping, we get stuck with MREs."

Daniel laughed softly. "I promise, Casey. Room service."

"Maybe we could all go. I think we all deserve a vacation."

"Sounds like a good idea, babe. How are you feeling?"

"Oh, it’s going to be at least another ten minutes or so before I can get up," she said, a mischievous smile on her face.

Daniel grinned. "I think that sounds about right."

Jacob looked over at Jack. "Sounds to me like she’s okay," he said softly.

Jack grinned. "Yeah. But she hit those ships. She can have her ten minutes."

Jacob grinned also. "Let’s see if we can get our engines back online now. I’ll contact the Prometheus and let them know we’ve taken care of the threat."

Within two hours the Phoenix was back near Mars. Daniel and Casey were off duty for the night, barring any emergencies or attacks.

She was sitting on the bed, brushing her hair when Daniel came in from his turn in the small bathroom. They had been delighted to find that the Goa’uld on a mothership traveled in comfortable style. She smiled up at him. "It’s a bed, not a tent."

He grinned. "And there are three other SG teams on board."

She pulled off her tee shirt and threw it to the floor. His followed, landed on top of hers. His boxers hit the floor, her bikini panties landed beside them. She laid back, held her arms open.

He lowered himself into her embrace, began to kiss her sweet lips. The taste of her mouth sent the flames of Fire racing down his spine, into his legs, back up into his rising manhood. He could feel her sucking at his lower lip, the sensations drove him wild. He returned the favor, then began sucking on her tongue. The need to taste her skin prodded him, and he moved his lips to her jaw, her throat, down to her breasts.

Her back arched as he used his lips and tongue to make love to her. His fingers were already between her thighs. She reached out to hold, caress, stroke his swollen member. She moved her hand slowly, gently, teasing him with her touch.

He slid down on the bed, held her slender thighs with his hands, and began to worship her, his tongue making her entire body shiver. He lapped at the sweet honey that poured from her well, then settled with his tongue flickering over that swollen little nub. He felt the quiver in her legs, moved up and buried himself in her. "You like that, don’t you, babe?" he asked softly as he ground his body against hers with every thrust.

"Oh, yeah," she gasped, her hips matching his movements. "Don’t stop, it feels so good," she begged.

He continued to move against her. Her body was beginning to shake.

"Oh, god, Daniel…I’m gonna come!" she whispered, pushing against him. The whimper that signaled her orgasm filled her throat and she cried out.

He began to thrust harder and deeper into her warm, sweet well. She was gripping him, holding him, squeezing him every time he buried himself, not letting go until he had pulled nearly all the way out. He started moving faster.

"Love me, Daniel, fill me," she whispered. Her hands were on his chest, caressing, pinching at his hard nipples.

Her words, her hands, her body were driving him out of his mind. With a cry he went crashing over the edge, his body shuddering with his release. He dropped onto her long enough to catch his breath. He moved his arm under her hips, rolled them over, then held her tightly against his chest. "Love you, Angel," he whispered.

"Love you, my heart," she whispered in reply. Within minutes they were both asleep.
