Whispers in the Dark
"...You'll never be alone
When darkness comes I'll light the night with stars
Hear my whispers in the dark
No
You'll never be alone
When darkness comes you know I'm never far
Hear my whispers in the dark..."
SKILLET LYRICS - "Whispers In The Dark"
Chapter 1
The sand on the beach was white, reflecting the sunlight with blinding brilliance. The sky above was blue and cloudless, and the water that lapped lazily along the shore was clear and blue and warm.
Casey lay on her stomach, the sun warming her back. She sighed with contentment. SG-1 was on vacation. Daniel had contacted Jonas Quinn, and the young Kelownan had excitedly helped arrange this idyllic interlude.
The resort where they were staying was exclusive, and the management more than willing to give them a deep discount because of who they were. The people of Langara were well aware that the members of SG-1 had helped save their planet from Anubis. There had been extensive damage and far too many deaths when pieces of his ship had fallen onto the city of Kelowna. But the planet had been saved.
Erin and Aaron were along as well, taking care of Emily as much as possible so that Casey could relax and enjoy herself. Most of the time they were all together anyway, but it was nice to have a chance to get away when she and Daniel wanted to.
She sighed again, then opened her eyes and looked over at her daughter. Emily was under a large umbrella right beside her, the bouncer-seat she was in sitting was next to her grandfather. The baby was asleep. Both of the Desala’s were asleep as well.
She turned her head and looked at Daniel. He was on his back right beside her, his hand holding hers. He had his sunglasses on, the clip-on shades that fit over his regular glasses. She smiled. He still wore glasses, even though he no longer needed them. At first he continued to wear them, with plain glass lens, to hide the fact that anything about him had changed, to hide his Immortality from those who didn’t need to know, from those who knew about his allergies and the fact that contact lenses irritated his eyes. Now he did it because she asked him to. He looked so damned sexy in them! He had worn glasses as long as he could remember, the habit so strong in him now that on the rare occasions he did leave them off, he'd told her that he actually missed them.
Sam and Jack were laying on the other side of Daniel, Sam’s belly round and full of their baby girl. Teal'c and Carlotta were laying next to them. The team was together, they were relaxing, and were having the time of their lives. A waiter wandered over, replacing empty glasses and bottles, making sure that everyone had what they needed.
"Now this is a vacation," Casey sighed happily. "If I can’t be in the arms of a god in paradise, I’ll take this."
Daniel said nothing, but his fingers squeezed hers tightly.
Jack lifted his sunglasses and looked over at her. "Come again? Arms of a god?"
Casey giggled. "Daniel took me to paradise. And Adonis has nothing on my Stud Muffin."
Daniel groaned at her use of the nickname Emma Hanks had given him.
"Do I dare ask where ‘paradise’ is?" Jack asked.
"Somewhere in the middle of the freakin’ Amazon. Daniel, where was that valley?"
"In the middle of the freakin’ Amazon," he replied a grin on his face.
"You two are pathetic," Jack replied. He readjusted his sunglasses.
"I believe that you and Samantha Carter behave in much the same manner, O’Neill," Teal'c said, his eyes closed, a smile on his face.
Casey and Daniel hooted with laughter. "Yeah, take that, Jack," Daniel said.
"Hi, everybody!" a cheery voice called. Jonas walked toward them, his face lit by his smile. He dropped down beside the umbrella. "Enjoying yourselves?"
Casey rolled over and sat up. "Jonas, this place is amazing. It’s beautiful, peaceful, great service…it’s the best!"
The smile on the man’s face grew wider. "I’m glad you like it, Casey."
"Don’t believe her, Jonas," Daniel said, his voice teasing. "It has room service and for Case, that’s all it takes for a place to be great."
Jonas looked at Casey. "Are you sure it’s okay? There isn’t anything wrong? Nothing you need?"
Casey punched Daniel’s shoulder.
"Ow!"
"Jonas, everything I said is true. Daniel is just grumpy because I like it better here than where he took me on our last vacation."
The young man grinned. "Where did he take you before?"
"Middle of a freakin’ jungle," Casey replied, a wide grin on her face.
Jonas looked at Daniel. "Is it customary on Earth to take your wife to such a dangerous place for a vacation? Is it so that you can prove that your primal skills of hunting and offering protection are still active? Are there any rituals involved with such a-"
Casey laughed, and put her hand on Jonas’ arm. "It wasn’t really that dangerous, Jonas, honest. It was a beautiful valley. It was wonderful. It just didn’t have room service…and I kinda like room service."
"What about those primal skills, Case?" Sam asked, laughing at the pained look on Daniel’s face.
"All the primal skills I’m interested in work just fine, thank you very much," Casey replied. Daniel’s response was to growl and pull her against his chest and into his embrace.
Jonas looked at them, shook his head, and rose to his feet. "I just wanted to check and make sure you were all having a good time. I have to be back at Kelowna in the morning, so I’m leaving in about an hour."
The team pulled themselves to their feet.
"Jonas, thanks for arranging this. It’s been great, and we’re really enjoying it," Daniel said. He shook the young man’s hand.
"Yeah, thanks for everything," Jack said. He waved his hand and grinned.
Teal'c inclined his head, a smile on his face, Carlotta smiling as well.
Sam and Casey both hugged the young man, which caused him to blush brightly.
They watched as he walked away, turning to wave every so often, then re-settled themselves on the warm sand.
"Daniel?" Casey said softly, laying her head on his shoulder.
"Hmm?"
"I really do like your primal skills."
He chuckled. "Glad to hear that, Angel."
"Knock it off, you two," Jack said, a warning tone in his voice.
"Jack?" Casey said sweetly.
"What, Case?"
"Bite me."
The older man sat up and looked over at her. It took effort to keep the grin from his face. "Oh, no, you did not just say that to me!"
Casey stood to her feet, walked over to where he was reclining on his elbow and looked at him. "I did just say that to you." She kicked sand on his feet, a wicked grin on her face.
"You are so going to pay for that." In an instant the older man was on his feet. Casey was quick, and jumped out of his grasp at the last second. She ran towards the water.
Daniel sat up and watched them, grinning. He glanced at Sam, who was giggling as she watched her husband chase after the young blonde. "Guess they’re relaxed, huh?"
Sam laughed out loud. "I’d say so. It’s nice to see Jack this relaxed and happy. With everything that’s been going on…he needs this. We all need this."
"Well, guess I’d better go rescue him before she drowns him," Daniel said, watching as Casey pushed the general under the waves, then swam out of his reach.
Casey was treading water, watching to see where Jack would come up at. The water was clear and warm and just salty enough to be perfectly buoyant. She saw the gray haired man off to her left, was heading in that direction just as two strong hands pulled her under. She wiggled around, looked into laughing blue eyes, then burst onto the surface. She pushed her hair back and grinned. "You could get into trouble doing things like that," she said.
"Yeah? How?" Daniel asked, grinning back at her.
With a wicked smile, Casey took a deep breath and submerged herself. She wrapped herself around his legs, her face level with the front of his swimming trunks. She leaned forward and began to kiss and nip at him through the wet cotton material, rewarded when he became aroused. Needing a breath of air, she let go and rose to the surface.
Daniel looked at her. "You’re going to start something, little girl, that you might not be able to finish," he said softly.
"I can finish anything I start," she replied, smiling at him, her eyes dancing.
He looked around, saw that Jack had returned to the beach and was stretching out beside his wife. He grabbed Casey and wrapped an arm around her, holding her close. With his free hand he lowered his trunks enough to free his now raging hard-on, then lowered his head to kiss her. He pulled away. "Wrap around me, babe," he whispered.
Casey obeyed, wrapping her arms around his neck, her legs around his waist. Her eyes went wide when she felt his bare flesh against the skin of her calves.
He had his hands on her firm ass. "Help me out here, Angel," he instructed softly.
She reached down with one hand and moved her bikini bottoms to the side, and guided him into her warm well, already wet for him. She sighed as he lowered her body onto his rigid shaft. "That feels wonderful, sweetheart," she said softly.
Daniel kissed her, letting the waves of the ocean help him find and maintain their rhythm. It didn’t take long until they were both quietly sighing with their mutual climaxes.
"Now I can say I’ve done it in the ocean," she giggled, when she had caught her breath. She glanced at the people on the shore. "Do you think they know?"
Daniel shook his head. "They’re all asleep, or at least not looking this way. Doesn’t matter, they can’t see anything anyway."
"Love you, Daniel."
"Love you too, Casey."
They released each other, adjusted their clothes, played for just a few more minutes splashing one another, then headed for the beach and rest.
